It was touch and go with the weather on the big day, but the skies cleared, the sun shone, the TV screen stayed safe outside, tucked under a parasol and the BBQ sizzled away!

Guests and visitors, walkers and residents, all dropped in during the day, to eat, drink, watch and toast William and Kate – to simply enjoy sharing in the celebrations. There was a lovely, relaxed atmosphere, quint-essentially British. A great mixture of all age groups, but fortunately, unlike a certain frowning flower girl, no bored faces from the little ones, as the kids just decided to pool it!

And what’s better than a Royal Wedding, a traditional, West Country BBQ, plenty of cocktails, all topped with bunting and flags street party style? Everyone here had a fab. time. Fran became over emotional, blaming it entirely on her pregnancy, though I think that’s questionable, Pablo served a gorgeous array of drinks all day, and Damien cooked up chicken, burgers, sausages, dogs, with salads to delight, dressed with chilli relish and sour cream, as we all watched the BBC coverage.

There were murmurs of delight to see the bride: what a day for British Fashion? There were debates on which dress was more gorgeous, Kate’s or Pippa’s. Which hat won best in show? Who was worst dressed – Nick Clegg’s wife claimed that one! But everyone loved the tree lined abbey, the kisses on the balcony, the parade, the whole sensational event.

And me? Well I ate, drank, watched, tweeted, facebooked but best of all, met a lot of lovely new and old friends at the hotel and online. The gorgeous photos used here, are quite unique, taken by a good friend of mine and great photographer from London, Anja King , who bravely camped over night to record the big event!
